To me, real art is creative expression of one's perspective. The only reason anything becomes popular is because people like it. If most people don't like it, it's not popular. The concept is simple.
So, why is there a problem? That's simple too: selfish people who can't think of anything better to do than spread their unhappiness by shooting negativity at other people. It's one thing to share your opinion or perspective, but what happened to "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all"?
Yes, criticism is good, and so is discussion, but getting angry about something that isn't harming anyone is ridiculous and extreme, and accomplishes nothing good. It's a waste of time. It's the same as radio and TV: If you don't like it, don't participate! If you don't want to look, Don't! If you don't want to listen, don't!
Who draws the line? Who gets to tell other people that their art isn't acceptable and what right do they have to do so? What right does anyone
have to condemn anyone else, let alone their self-expression! What right do people have to push their views on others and stop other people from expressing themselves? If it's not hurting anyone, then what's the harm?
There's a difference between a problem with certain types of art being placed where they don't belong, and certain types of art being allowed.
I think people should be able to express themselves however they want as long as no one is harmed, but by the same token no one should be forced to look at it.
It should be in it's own place/category so people know what to expect and don't have too look at things they don't want to see, but still be available for those who do wish to view it. That way, everyone gets what they want without violating anyone else's freedom.
Now here's a question most people don't seem to think is related: Why aren't we living in a free society?
Society is a reflection/creation of the people. Why aren't we free to do what we want as long as we don't hurt anyone? Because selfish jerks get together and condemn and bully other people, and not enough people stand up to them. People are too chicken to stand up for what's right.
So, how do we fix the situation? Simple: when enough people stand up for what's right; what's right will become law. It shouldn't be a problem. If people left well enough alone, there would be no issue. People would participate in what they want to participate in, and the people who didn't wouldn't have to. SIMPLE! Live and let live! What a concept, right?
Don't accept selfish bullying. As long as no one's getting hurt, no one has a right to interfere with people's self-expression. That's real freedom and self-government. Everyone's responsible for their own actions and doesn't hurt anyone and we all live free and peacefully. Simple.
